People asked to report stockpiling of bonfire materials ahead of Halloween
Dublin City Council said it wants everyone to have a safe and enjoyable Halloween.
WITH JUST OVER two weeks left until Halloween, Dublin City Council is urging people to report any stockpiled bonfire material as part of a bid for everyone to have a safe and enjoyable Halloween.
The council said it was carrying out dozens of stockpiling raids to remove bonfire material, from the beginning of this month right up to Halloween.
Dublin Fire Brigade has said it has seen an increase in bonfires as preparation for Halloween has gone on.
Simon Brock, of Dublin City Council’s Waste Management Services, said: “[We] are again asking in place an extensive action plan for the 2017 Halloween period.
We are asking you to report incidents of stockpiling of bonfire material to us as soon as possible so we can remove the material and avoid the risk of serious injury and damage to our environment over the Halloween period.
The council said it removed in excess of 420 tonnes of bonfire materials during the Halloween period last year, after receiving 280 reports from the public of stockpiling taking place.
