Civil liberties group calls on Government to restore barrister legal aid fees
The Irish Council for Civil Liberties (ICCL) said that the Government should invest €8.6 million in a number of human rights measures.

State pension and core social welfare payments to increase by €5 per week
A range of other social welfare increases was announced.
This will bring the full State pension to €253.30 per week.
A €5 increase to the Fuel Allowance comes into effect from midnight.
The Living Alone Allowance will also increase by €3 per week.
Most packets of cigarettes will now cost €15 after 50c tax hike
This is the sixth year in a row the price has increased by that amount.
